Main page

Hi! I’m a researcher and geophysicist. Welcome to my personal webpage. Feel free to check out my featured research or read up on the latest activity in my blog. My work revolves around geostatistics and probabilistic data integration.

Featured Research

  • SERRA 2021: Choosing between Gaussian and MPS simulation: the role of data information content – a case study using uncertain interpretation data points
  • Geophysical Prospecting 2019: Estimation of a non‐stationary prior covariance from seismic data
  • Geophysics 2018: Estimation and accounting for the modeling error in probabilistic linearized amplitude variation with offset inversion
  • Environmental Research Letters 2021: Assessment of complex subsurface redox structures for sustainable development of agriculture and the environment
  • HESS 2021: 3D multiple-point geostatistical simulation of joint subsurface redox and geological architectures

About Me

Current status

I am currently employed at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) as a postdoc. My main role here is stochastic modeling and geostatistics within the two projects RESPROB and MAPFIELD.

My Skills

My skills and specialities include inverse theory, probabilistic data integration, seismics, geostatistics and geophysics. Read more about my skills in the biography.

Follow Me

I am a fairly new researcher (finished my PhD in 2018) with an increasing research portfolio. Feel free to follow my scientific endeavours in the blog.

My name is Rasmus Bødker Madsen and I am a young geophysicist working as a scientist and researcher.

My main competencies include inversion of geophysical data, geostatistics and probabilistic data integration. I started my university life by studying geology but gradually moved my way towards computational geophysics and modeling because of my fascination with numbers and wanting to understand the world through a quantitative process.

I graduated my PhD in the summer of 2018 at the university of Copenhagen and I am currently employed at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland as a postdoc.

After work I usually spend time with my wife and son. I am also a passionate guitar player whenever my schedule allows so. Music, friends, beer and sports all play a big role in my life. Not necessarily in that order.

Just received my second jab of Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday. But what is up with all those empty chairs? I spoke with the injector afterwards and asked her about it. She said that they are dimensioned for 1500 people per day, but currently only had about 400 through the doors each day. She hoped it… Read more
